How to Succeed in Business in 4 Easy Steps
Editor-at-Large Bo Burlingham at Inc. Magazine in 1995 wrote an article which holds a lot of truth for tech startups today. In his article Bo describes the (sometimes painful) process a couple goes through on their journey to entrepreneurship. What I believe is interesting about this story is the fact that it starts with the basics - Am I really cut out to be an entrepreneur and is my business idea really one which generates an income for me and my family?
Don’t get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with starting your Web 2.0 (ahhh, how much I start to hate this word!) on a hunch, put down a bit of money and a lot of sweat and see what you can achieve. But try to imagine how many of those companies can’t answer the most fundamental of all questions (at least for a company): Can it generate an income for the people who work there?
